Population ageing is one of the most significant social transformations of the twenty-first century, particularly in industrial nations. Fewer people are being born and people are living longer. By 2050 there will be more than 2 Billion people over the age of 60, with nearly 4 million of them over 100 years old. Organisations are facing the challenge of there being fewer available younger workers coupled with an increase in the age of the overall workforce. Challenges range from managing the multi-generation workforce to retaining valuable intellectual property and expertise. The longevity revolution is underway and unstoppable. A fundamental rethink of how we deal with age in the workforce is needed.
